Self Sown Peach progression

in 2006 i collected a small self sown Peach tree from a friends garden, and so far have been able to develop it into something that resembles Bonsai, but not a great one yet, as they can be a challenge
Every year it suffers die back and that sets it back considerably.

in 2008-9, it lost a larger branch and the dead wood extended all the way in a spiral down into the roots, The entire back section of the tree rotted out leaving just the roots around the front of the tree.

Despite that, the last 2 years it has flowered and this year has a fruit developing, that has stayed on so far

I love it, well done mate. Not all bonsai need to be the "conventional" type or style. This rings a bell if only for the fruit.

Looks good. Have you managed to work out the die back issue or is this just a problem of the species? I have one (early development) and only trimmed back a few weeks ago, will leave to grow until autumn hopefully will not have any die back?!

The die back I have no idea on really, just seemed randomly it loses a small branch or shoot. Others on the same tree are fine so maybe just cutting back too hard and no nodes to shoot from?

I have a dwarf peach tree on our front deck and had to remove some smaller branches in spring as they had died for no apparent reason, perhaps it is a problem with the species? I've heard plums have a similar problem

It has not been covered, so suspect fruit fly will get it first .
Will have a look first tho

Spring is arriving fast in my garden here.
My peach has new shoots and flowers.
this one was Repotted again last week so on for another season.
