It's fun, but with more reserch and development it would be much better, oh yeah and money.

Here's some pics of what i made, i gotta say it will never beat the real thing but it is good a idea to help promote bonsai culture and as a tool for a novice to understand tree species/style.

Alot of potential.

I had tried this before and it did not work. The upgrade made it work and I spent a fair time with it and was very impressed. I found that after clipping back hard you could hit fast forward again for a bit. This made the years creep forward pretty quick(you can hit 100 years in a couple of hours pretty easy. But I found that the tree obviously needed a root prune that they weren't getting as the pot kept getting bigger making the tree look smaller :(
You need to get your tree right at about 50 years old for it to stay in proportion.
This is only the prototype with some adjustments like root pruning wiring it would be a ripper. I am not sure that is on the list of improvements though. You can grow a branch very heavy to bend it down.
Bonsai Talk had the "Pipe Cleaner" bonsai comp I can imagine it would be fun to do a Go Bonsai competition.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

bretts thats a great idea. i have been toying with this for about an hour or so and this is what i have come up with its 37 years old. trying to refine it with detail is hard, i find that to let it grow and "topiarise" it sort of it comes out well, not sure how to fix reverse taper and as i have a laptop with no moujse i cant do major branch prunes so any way here it is.

i rekon we go with the "go bonsai" competition for one of those penny davis pots... (wishful thinking i reckon) lol

still playing with this one by the way
