So, try saying that forwards people and when you have done that, try backwards. i bet you will I believe this bonsai is now worthy of its own page as it is responding well to Bonsai culture. Two myth's have been dispelled with this Bonsai. (1) They dont make good Bonsai (2) you cannot reduce leaf size.
I believe, with a dose of humility, that both these myth's have been "busted". Here's a picture view of why. Feel free to agree or disagree. The pot, i think, is also a little controversial but it is a cultural revolution pot and collectable but, bugger it, the tree is not supposed to be a Bonsai so lets put it in an outrageous pot.

I have them as mini cascades and have no trouble keeping leaves small

Thanks Gavin, it is interesting (as i have better trees than this) that a certain piece of work that you have done just grows on you and and the attachment forms. i really do like this tree as it gives me pleasure.

I didn't know you could eat it, what does it taste like

Looks like it's settled into it's redesign well, a definite improvement

They do produce nice colour ... do they colour up more easily than Boston Ivy?

Bodhi, you may have more skilfully-made trees, but this has that priceless gift of wildness - no human mind would think to make that shape. You've made the most of it - the new angle and the pot have transformed it. It's also condensed - there's nothing in it that's there just to fill the space. Everything's essential.

The 2 pics of each are all photographed one month apart and show the colour variation quite well.
they are both about 5 - 6 inches from tip to tip and I use them for kusamono ( or just enjoying )

Different leaves Ken. From the same grape family (Vitaceae) but the Virginia has compound leaves and the Boston has lobed leaves. The boston has 3-5 lobes.
