I have just noticed an old scar on my poinciana trunk has rotted away from the inside and left a large crater. I have removed the rotted wood but i am not sure if I should try to seal it or just let nature take its course. I really dont want to lose this one as it is my largest. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.Royal poinciana bonsai trunk rotting

Re: Royal poinciana bonsai trunk rotting
Paint it with "Earls wood hardener" and it should stop it rotting more and give time to roll over.

Re: Royal poinciana bonsai trunk rotting
Ditto for what Ken said. If you do a large cut on these trees make sure the water can drain away and seal it. They seem to be a bit soft and susceptible to rot in the trunk.
