Nursery Experience NSW

Post by xIIRevoEvoS »

This is my personal experience/mini review from the nurseries that I've been too and anyone is welcome to put their input with correction and their experiences at other nurseries around NSW
  • Bonsai South
    Megumi Bennett Bonsai Art
    Ray Nesci Bonsai

Bonsai South

Definitely recommending anyone to visit Bonsai South in Caringbah if you live in NSW or happen to drive by from other states. The stock quality is incredible and its breath taking to see the amount of work Leong has applied to all his bonsai collection. Leong's nursery tends to be specialised with Pines, Junipers, Elms, Figs and Penging. He does have a small-medium size of starter stock from $4-30, raw stock from $30-300 and ready made bonsai's from $300-2500+. The staff is really good and really know their bonsai but also the dedication they have with bonsai is incredible. :imo: If you haven't seen leongs video via his website, its worth seeing how he transform his stock
  • Stock - Azalea, Junipers, Elms, Maples, JWP Grafted, JBP, Figs, Scots Pine, Cedars, Serissa, Cotoneaster and many more
Services - Bonsai Classes, Bonsai Care, Workshops
Supplies - Small-Large Bonsai Pottery, Penging, Tools, Scoria, Diaomite, Bonsai Soil
    Price - $/$$/$$$
Megumi Bennett Bonsai Art
Their stock varies from time to time at Megumi Bennett Bonsai Art in Belrose NSW, its still restocking bonsai's as of early 2015 but I can say that the quality is also incredible since they moved. Its currently operated by Alex Bennett who's the son of Brian and Megumi, once you start a conversation with him about a particular species you can be their for 15 min talking about 1 specie then onto another and he also passes only good details on how to maintain your bonsai/guide you around the nursery. You would see Megumi and her husband Brian here and there at Bonsai Art when Alex isn't around. Bonsai Art tends to specialise with Junipers, Maples, Natives, Elms and JBP. They have a small/medium size of starter stock from $6-30, raw stock from $30-200, ready made bonsai from $200-1000+.
  • Stock - Azaleas, Junipers, Maples, Natives, JBP, Figs, Flowering Trees and other (varies from season) and alot of rocks
Services - Bonsai Care, Bonsai Classes, Other
Supplies - Small-Medium Bonsai Pot, Figurines, Wires, Kaneshine/Shigomoto Tools, Bonsai Soil Mix
    Price - $/$$
Ray Nesci Bonsai
Ray Nesci Bonsai is located around Northern Suburbs/The Hills area in Dural/Kenthurst, he also has an incredible stock and mind blowing as well. You would be surprise what you would see when you arrive, Ray Nesci tends to specialise in Figs, Maples, JBP and Elms. Ray is quite helpful when you would like to know a particular specie and able to give you good guidance on how to take care of your newly purchased plants and he has books that can teaches you bonsai basics from various levels. He has a small medium starter stock from $5-30, raw stock $30-200, ready made stock from $200-1000+.
  • Stock - Heavily with Maples, JBP, Cedar, Elms, Figs, Flowering types, Spruce, Swampy, Juniper, Azalea, JWP grafted and other
    Services - Bonsai Classes, Other
Supplies - Small Medium Bonsai Pot, Figurines, Wires, Tools, Training plastic pot, driftwood, Diatomite, Zeolite, Bonsai Soil, Bonsai Books
    Price - $/$$
This a mini review and these nursery are worth the visit if you are looking around for some quality stock. Some stock would require special order like Megumi, Leong and Ray Nesci. :tu2:

Head to Bonsai World, it's a bit of a trek for you, but I reckon it would be worth your while.

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

I'm coming from far North WA, it doesn't get any more "trek" if you tried!
