[WANTED] boon's jbp dvd set

Post by mjhc »

Hello guys.
First time poster longer time reader.
I have a few Japanese black pines and they are going well but I'm still struggle with the timing of candle cutting, bud selection as well as maintanace for future design. The reason why I haven't posted in my time is that I've been happy just reading what everyone else does and books like pines in a temperate climate and stone/lantern pine guide. But I'd like to take these guys and any future stock I get up a level or two. I saw that the first ever imported jbp into the USA is now maintained by boon. That alone speaks of the skills this guy must have. I've seen his workmanship as well as the reviews of his DVDs, Hence why I'm searching for his set of DVDs (pal versions) on the Japanese black pine (four of - reporting, wiring, repotting and maintenance) and even the juniper one (that would be a bonus though. I was just seeing if anyone has a set they might be willing to sell before I buy ntsc versions off his site and then a new dvd to actually watch them. I saw there was a group buy organised but I didn't get in in time and from what I can tell there are none left.
Please pm if you have an info.
Thanks
Michael.

hi Michael
i know the Waverley bonsai club and the Yarra Valley bonsai club have them. i borrowed the whole set from WBC last year, so if you are in melbourne and not too far from either club, you can join and start to enjoy one of the benefits of being a club member.

Try Leong's Pine Book he is the owner of Bonsai South in NSW.
It is a cracker & has simple instructions on how & when as far as timing is concerned.

Michael,

I thought that Boon also sold PAL versions. I bought a full set and don't think that I have a fancy multi-region dvd player and they work fine.

That's for all the help guys - I've been offered a set.
Also
Tein - I'll try and join a club soon. Thanks for all the advice when I pop into your nursery as well. The plum tree and natives are going well.
Jc - I rate that book as well. I use it as a reference point but am struggling with the visualisation of future style and maintance and hope that seeing someone maintain it through a year of phases will help.
Nate - he did but has sold out and only has Ntsc on his website
Thanks again,
Michael

This goes out to the computer gurus... Isn't there a 'Movie' sharing software that allows for cross sharing?!?!

Always thought that as long as you own the original, you can scan it into your computer to watch on tablets, etc... Just asking?!?

Yes you can "rip" Dvd and CD to computer formats and ethically that is fine for your own use.
IN the US it has now been deemed OK to do so for your own use but I believe it is still technically illegal in Australia. if you do so for your own use and never share then I doubt you would ever be prosecuted if ever found out that you had ripped them.

obviously please do not share them around.

IMHO i also believe that due to aussie copyright law, it is also illegal to share around the original disks as that is deemed against the T.O.C. on the product. Public libraries are I believe exempt

What Ken said is correct and I did copyright during my Advance Diploma of Graphic Design, as long as you don't distribute or sell to other people then its okay for personal use.
You can expect a heavy fine and even face court/copyright infringement etc..which will have lawyers involved.

As for books, you are better off buying a proper retail version instead since photocopying is prohibited in a way. You can make notes but not photocopy or turn it into a book for personal use.
Kind Regards
Allen
