Thanx Ken,
I just re read my post - was tired and it shows... Sorry.

There are so many things that you guys enjoy that are not accessible where I am, and I'm trying to get some 'Science' into my Bonsai to take the guesswork out of my situation...
Which is why I like this OpenSprinkeler idea.

Cheers

The automatic weather adjustment in OpenSprinkler is one thing that I do not find 'that' useful by default. Its more geared towards watering lawns and gardens. Basically it uses an algorithm to adjust the duration of each watering cycle based on the rain information it receives from the weather feeds. So if it has rained recently or is raining - it either wont water or will only water for a very brief duration at the normal scheduled time.

For bonsai, we ideally want to adjust the number of watering cycles based on weather info, not so much the duration of the watering cycles. So if its a very hot day, we may want to water 3 or more times during the day. If its raining or has rained, maybe once or not at all. Hence I'm writing my own script in an attempt to automate this. Currently its easy enough to manually trigger the system on hot days where ever I am, but I can get busy and forgetful at times! Also if I am a long way away, I may not be fully aware that its currently 38C and blowing a northerly in my backyard! This would be an extra layer of insurance!

As for cost, I figured that few extra $$'s will look pretty insignificant if I lost a few trees I've spent years developing due to a watering mishap!
