Oh my giddy Aunt! I'm in stitches...

I now see a funny side to people I didn't think had one...

good to see!

Still love the pot, and the tree isn't bad either, not that I am skilled enough to critique it.
Cheers

Great purchase, nice pot, impressive future for this tree!

Regards,
Steven

With the way the branches are sticking up in the air like that I'd say it's more likely a deer.

And can I say it's a nice rack he's got too, hang on can I say that on here :palm:

I have seen many trees eaten off by cattle/horses, deer that would make awesome bonsai. Unfortunately I wasn't doing bonsai when I was growing up on the farm.
That's a great looking tree by the way.

Josh.

PS those are 300 mm pots .
Thanks for posting the other elms you dug up.

I thought that the tree was a bargain, considering how many years and how many cows it took to create it.

Grant would you consider possibly removing the main trunk with the right angle bend in it?

No,

I will work with what nature has provided in this case and i think it is interesting because of that bend. I will certainly have the only cow, kangaroo, deer , sheep humping bonsai in the world.

It certainly tells a story or two.

Sorry to disappoint Grant - not the only one. There is already one in Melbourne.

I'm pretty sure it is also English Elm

This tree was dug by Mary W from Bendigo many years ago and sold on a few years ago. It was growing on the side of a river/creek bank I believe and yes it is an English elm.

One of the best trees I have ever seen in Australia.I love it.

I cannot disagree, despite having never seen this tree.

BSV hey? I must make it down to the next exhibition this tree will be at. It looks absolutely spectacular and really is a credit to the quality of Bonsai we produce in Australia.

Thanks for sharing ya'll, I'm going to dream about that tree for a very long time.

Cheers,
Mo
There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.

Update.

Also it is probably Ulmus pumila or Siberian Elm.
IMG_7694.jpg
I will lower the apex by trimming it harder in spring. I will also remove a branch or two to create some billowing effects amongst the outline.
