Re: Mauro Stemberger in Brisbane, 20 & 21 June 2015
Here are the trees i will be bringing to the Sunday Workshop. I was figuring that since he is from Italy, he should know something about Olives.
Sorry for the poor picture quality, i took then on my phone early in the morning.
The tree is about 40cm high and about 60 wide. I dug this up in Adelaide when the AABC conferance was on there about 6(?) years ago. The host club organised an Olive dig for AABC participants. This is still one of my fondest memories of an AABC conference. It originally came with a large wooden ball of a base which I cut off when it arrived back in Brisbane. This Juniper will be my backup. I just found a post that showed this tree 6 years ago. It has suffered since then in the moist Brisbane climate but I think it will bounce back once i give it a repot.

It was a good weekend and i got alot out of it.
Here is my Olive before the work. Here it is after an hour of carving and around 4 hours of wiring. THe picture doesn't do it justice. THis is a better angle THis is the demonstration tree that was won by a happy younger member of BSQ. Another tree from the workshop. I don't have the other finished trees, I had to leave early.

Olive looks great.
That is going to be a real treat when it settles/ages a little from the recent work.
I love the last Juniper as well! Fantastic dramatic styling!

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Yes, being from Italy he would be exposed to alot of Olive material.
