Just a hint next time save the wire and use bamboo and string for styling feature trees in the garden I will have to get some shots of how they are doing it at the Dubbo Japanese garden.

I will hit the head gardener up for an interview and get what he was taught, he will be flatterd

Here's another very large THANK YOU! to everyone who helped with this exercise, Particularly Brett, Steve and our mysterious benefactor for cashing up the group to start with.

It was great to meet a few of the faces for other members. It was even funnier when I found out that everyone thought I was going to be a chick because of my username....VERY long story (which I'm used to explaining quickly).

I'm now the proud owner of various bags of Akadema and Kanuma which my trees also thank you for.

Nothing mysterious about our benifactor just some times it is not worth the trouble to work out how many details to put on the internet. They say only put on the internet what you would write on a postcard.

Steven your office was beautiful. Now i know why you want to spend so much time there, I would too . It was so inspiring. Every where you turned there was something new to see. Meeting other members of ABC was a good experience also. I would have loved to stay longer and as you knew we were heading back home on the same day.So I was eager to head off to Ray Neskii's,even then time was racing. I did get to meet Ray he is so amazing, there he stood with an audience speaking away so causally . Could of listened all day to what he had to say. Very lovely man. Any ways what i wanted to buy i couldnt as i knew we could not fit it inn. Next time ill be prepared. And to you Bretts thank you for organising the Akadama and Kanuwa for us, excellent job. So now for those of you who's never been to Ray Neskii's, some pictures of what you are missing. But firstly how many men does it take to style 1 tree tree cheers!

With all the talk of Zeolite on another thread.

Was wondering how everyone is going with the Akadama.

Ive got a few Figs in it, some in straight akadama and sand, couple I threw a bit of old mix in with it as well. I find the pots without any "soil" dry out pretty quickly but both sets of trees are charging along with new growth.

I also put a juniper in it on the same day as we picked it up and its recovering from a fairly major top prune well.

All in all Im pretty happy with it.

The azaleas in the Kanuma on the other hand look like they have left me for the heavenly pots. Which is really annoying.
(Best mix ive found so far for an azalea seems to be orchid mix with 10 mm scoria, which is not so easy to fit in a small pot!)

I have a grape, spring variegated elm, some figs, Clerendendron a JBP growing in it. It has been going great the only thing I don't like is that I have to be careful when sticking my finger in the pot to see how wet it is as it tends to break up when I do that.
The azalea I have growing in it is the last survivor of my azalea ways It is going great.

I have some gums,Cassuaria, desert ash,callistamons and 2 hibiscus growing in akadama,sifted native mix and chook poo. They are going strong,on the hotter days i have to water twice a day. The pots are sitting on gravel at ground level & it keeps the roots in the pot cool. Shade cloth high above them to protect from sun schorch.I havnt found them as yet to be fully dried. 2nd batch in zeolite, choped up spagnum moss and D/L. 3rd batch, a mix of course sifted riversand, native mix, old manure and choped spagnum moss. The course sand i find dry's out ,and watering has to be a bit more frequent. Mainly all my trees are natives, with least exotics and pines. As for growing medium, i find them all to be much of a muchness.
