Re: Crepe Cutting
Which branch I have cut off isn't the current issue. I cut it off 10 months ago and I am happy with the choice I made. The current problem is branch dieback. If you have any suggestions/opinions as to why that might be based on my post above, I'd love to hear it. Especially considering it was thriving after its repot back in August. I'll settle for it living at this stage.
EDIT - and thank you.

Re: Crepe Cutting
It died back. Now in process of letting it grow again. I'm leaving the suckers for now to fatten the bottom.

Re: Crepe Cutting
Ended up culling it, half the trunk died. The bigger cutting I took last year got its repot this year and lucky I didn't leave it another year! Lots of roots...

Re: Crepe Cutting
I'm guessing you got some fungal rot in it.Beano wrote:Argh! This was going great until I wired it, then it's started to die back at the top. I've let some branches develop on the lower trunk to fatten the bottom a bit, do you think they're sucking too much energy? I've taken the wire off. They also got powdery mildew, so I sprayed with white oil, that was over a month ago, but it stopped thriving around then

Re: Crepe Cutting
The original cutting is in a the bin. The bigger one I posted later in the thread has been repotted and has had some primary branches wired.

Crepe Cutting
Hi, sorry for delay. It was a little slow to leaf out despite the warm weather up here. I didn't want to post it til it looked better. Just needed some food! This is it today:
