Re: Another plum -Prunus Cerasifera - No Stihl
Hi Isitangus , mate this trunk has been spotted for the last few years with purple leaf shoots amassing from just above the ground level graft . I was thinking one day i would like to get my hands on it and low and behold it just happened . The shoots were trimmed nicely every year by the gardeners and healing of the scars is like callouses so i have no doubts it will sprout at the base again .
If it shoots from the base then the rest of the trunk will become bonsai stands, if it grows from the top then it will be layered . In the mean time it can grow in the new terrace under construction as i never had a pot or box big enough .It took a might effort to cut the head off as the parks dept' wouldn't allow a chainsaw to be used due to insurance issues , still worth the sweat it took .

This hasn't grown as expected but I just wanted the foliage for thread grafts for the plum that have been damaged and for layers . I have trimmed the trunk down and set a platform to work off and for the flowering plum to sit on
Cheers . Alpineart
.I have attached about 16-18 thread grafts to the flowering plum that was removed from its pot and planted into a cut down 450mm plastic pot . This will reside here until the threads take . Plenty of water and food should see it happen this season . Cheers . Alpineart

I'm a big fan of plums, shattered it has shot from the base. From this forum, I've noticed some flower white - some pink. Anyone know why this is?

Hi mjhc , there are many different species/ cultivars of plums Nigra's and Atropurpureum are red/purple leaf and pink flower .Copper Bronze varieties can have both pink or white or a combination .
Most of the green varieties of plums I have seen have white flowers depending on the cultivar . Google Prunus and you will come up with literally hundreds of variation of all the Genus of prunus which doesn't only relate to the plums .
