Gardenia

Post by banksia »

Has anyone had experience collecting these?. I ask, as I dug one this morning that's got potential.....just not a lot of (if any) roots.
I do recall seeing a Bonsai Today article that entailed growing cuttings/collected material in water!! to establish roots.
Can anyone confirm this or add advice to it's after-care.

Cheers! :tu:

yes, they are pretty easy, with semi hardwood cuttings, this time of the year.Leave alone for at least one year, to harden roots up,and develop some branch ramification.Start wiring, and branch selection at this time.Put into bonsai pot in 3rd year.Remove all flowers that develop in the first 3yrs,to keep vegetative growth only.$th year let it flower.
