Hi all,
Found 4 of these little dark brown dome shaped things on my PJ fig saplings.
I pulled them off and I was wondering if anyone knows what they are.
Thanks in advance.

Re: PJ Fig Pest ID
Well done Phantom - definitely a scale insect.
Pick just a few off with fingers but you will probably find there are already young ones growing- they are lighter in colour and difficult to spot until they mature. I'd spray to get rid of all old and young. Oil based sprays work ok but you do have to cover all surfaces so you coat every one. A couple of sprays a few weeks apart should get rid of them.

Thanks guys. Oil based spray it is.
We should try to build a pest trouble shoot page That starts with tree species, and a list of known ailments. I'm sure there would be numerous photos and discussions on here to populate it.

I get scale like this every few months on my figs. Make up a home made spray of oil, water and a drop of detergent. Killes them every time.

Re: PJ Fig Pest ID
Hello Again,
I seem to have found another little pest.
It looks like a small purple hermit crab shell. I only found one and it was on a branch I was removing. Just wondering what it is.
