The Wagga Wagga bonsai club has an event on at the moment. Details below.

I am doing a workshop this Sunday morning(November 15th) from 9am till 12 noon and then a public demo/talk from 1.30pm till 4.30 or so. If you are in or near Wagga you might like to come and say hi.

i hope to cover a lot of ground and will show/discuss Ash that I am growing; 3 Shimpaku that I bought a month ago from Shibui; potting mix etc.

My main demo material will be one of the 3 Shimpaku and show potting on and training of the other 2.

Wagga Wagga Art Gallery is delighted to welcome two of our city’s most vibrant and creative groups, the Wagga Wagga Bonsai Society and the Wagga Wagga Potters Club, with their exhibition Inspire, Create, Grow. On display in the E3 art space at the Gallery from Thursday 12 November to Sunday 22 November, Inspire, Create, Grow features works that combine mastery of traditional techniques with truly innovative styles and themes.

The ancient arts of Pottery and Bonsai blend together to provide a perfect balance of ingenuity, creativity and fulfilment. Indeed, a more appropriate coupling of ancient art and craft forms would be difficult to find. Whilst this intimacy may not be immediately obvious in the physical spectrum, where each has unique, seemingly unrelated outcomes, the underlying concepts of originality, creativity and intellectual growth are tantamount to both.

In 1985 the Wagga Wagga Bonsai Society was formed as a non-competitive friendly society dedicated to the art form of bonsai. The Society is a member of the Associated Australian Bonsai Clubs (AABC) which holds an annual seminar over two days which members regularly attend. The AABC also runs a national tutor program which provides an expert tutor to isolated small societies for a workshop each year. The Society is also a member of the Bonsai Federation of Australia, another national body which runs workshops in Sydney. Members visit other clubs’ exhibitions and use the opportunities to exchange information.

The Wagga Wagga Potters Club was founded in 1969, with the aim of promoting the craft of pottery in the community and producing pots that will enrich the lives of those who use them. Exhibitions, raku, sawdust and wood firings along with weekend workshops are regular features on the club’s program. The Potters Club also participates in a wide variety of community activities, including Seniors Week, Fusion Multicultural Festival, and a range of school support programs.

Inspire, Create, Grow will be officially launched on Friday 13 November, at 6pm. The exhibition will be on public display in the E3 art space at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery from Thursday 12 November until Sunday 22 November, 2015.

I'm making the trip up the Olympic highway in the morning to get some help with one of my trees.

I suppose I should stay for the afternoon to see what Grant can do with the juniper as well.

The exhibition is interesting because it is a combination of work from the bonsai society members and potter's club members. The display space at the art gallery is very bright and open with 2 glass walls. I thought it looked good.

There is some very impressive works in there , some time management skills are required by me to get along to a few far flung venues and check out what other are doing . Thanks for posting .

Particularly like the accent plants with the cedar. No first timer nerves there! Is the pot imported? Seriously looks like a good show.
