P.J Fig Penjing
This has been in the making since the cutting were taken quite a few years ago
Cheers Alpineart
. They are growing on light weight scoria rocks that actually floats . They will get a trim and wire job as soon as i can find the time . The figs and rocks weigh less then the 700mm tray the reside in . Enough playing , time to dig a few trainers for the new grow beds .Cheers Alpineart

Already looking good and I can see it only getting better. I just wish the stone were at more pronounced different height...Is there a chance you can lift up one of the stones later by adding something under? But I still love it.

Re: P.J Fig Penjing
Hi Neli , I had considered making a deeper tray as this one is only 18mm deep which restricts the high of the rocks somewhat , Too much fill under the 3 tree rock didn't look right . I looked at slicing the 2 tree rock down 30 mm but that wasn't as easy at it sounded with the roots attached .
They are meant to be in a tray around 50-60mm deep and 800-900mm oval in order to manouver the hights and depths and to complete the landscape , however i just don't have the time to make a tray .
Cheers . Alpine

He he he! Since you are a concrete master now...if you like it you can make one like this...It takes me half an hour to make from white cement and sand...with some oxide or PVA mixed in and garden soul as mold.
I have several versions of this model...

Re: P.J Fig Penjing
This was defoliated last week and just had a minor trim , still toying with ideas regarding trunk lines .
Cheers Alpineart
It was overlooked for a root prune I will have to see what this season produces in the way of growth before a final styling takes place .Cheers Alpineart

Re: P.J Fig Penjing
Hi Mr Bodhi' , mate the preferred from from my point of view is the first pic , but as with most of my trainers they can have either .I like both for different reasons however in full leaf it looks completely different , naked it looks like a couple of bull elephant seals having a scrap
with the herom looking on . Being left handed I try to think backwards to cater for the righties
hence I offer 2 fronts , No Rules apply .
The roots need a good comb and tidy up , however I need a 750mm tray to lift and spread . This 600mm tray is a tad bit short for my planned exposed root mass running along the ground beyond and too narrow for the size of the rocks to achieve it . A small rock placed in front of the 2 outcrops for some roots to run over is another option I would like to explore if i had the larger tray .
Cheers . Alpine

Re: P.J Fig Penjing
You see bull elephants I see majestic stags with the younger bucks "practicing" in the back ground.

Re: P.J Fig Penjing
Hi anthonyW , I like to view bonsai from all directions and it is up to individual taste . I sold a fig earlier this week to a lady , I chose my front and explained why "lefty and all", she chose another front for very different reasons
, then my Wife piped up and chose another front
.
I'm left handed , the lady that purchased the tree is left handed and My Wife is right handed , they told me its a female thing
however it was obvious left and right handed females see things differently too
especially when it comes to the first branch , in particular which side it sits on and the direction the tree flows .
Thanks for the feedback .
Cheers . Alpine
