BONSAI – ROYAL EASTER SHOW 2016

There is a new look to the bonsai section at the Royal Easter Show in 2016 due to the popularity of bonsai.

In 2016 the bonsai display will run over four days instead of the previous two days. Exhibitors will bench ONE lot of trees that will be at the show for 4 days. There will be two judging sessions with different judges assessing the same trees. The classes have also changed to encompass size categories.

It is necessary to enter the trees in both sessions – two entry forms – only one charge:
4th session - Wednesday 23 -Thursday 24 March,
5th session - Friday 25 March - Saturday 26th.

Trees are to be delivered between 10:45 pm Tuesday 22 March to 7 am on Wednesday 23 March. All cars must be off site by 8 am. Pick up is between 10:45 pm to midnight on Saturday 26th of March. Trees must be collected by midnight.

Trees will be judged in Session 4 on Wednesday 23 March. On Thursday night all certificates and ribbons will be removed and the trees will be judged by the second judge on Friday 25 March.

Schedules will be available after 21 November at http://www.eastershow.com.au > competitions > flower and garden. There will be a single $30 online charge covering both sessions. No forms will be posted to applicants. Exhibitors who don’t want to enter on line will have to download the Schedule and Entry Forms from the internet and there will be a charge of $8 in addition to the $30 to cover manual entries.

All measurements must be in millimetres.

Members of the Sydney City Bonsai Club will be on site throughout the bonsai exhibit and will water the exhibits as needed.

The Royal Easter Show gets a huge visitor turnout and this is an ideal opportunity to show the public what ‘real’ bonsai is all about. Sydney City Bonsai Club members will be circulating around the exhibits answering questions. Club members also man a stand for 8 days in the horticultural pavilion and offer bonsai care information and information on bonsai clubs throughout Australia. Even Perth got a nudge last year.
