Twist and bend - Black Pine

Post by kvan64 »

I learn this trick from my Dad since I was a kid. It was not meant for bonsai and was just to tighten things when we worked in the garden. I found it's quite useful when the branches are too thick/hard to bend safely or too strong to be held in shape even with thick wires.
What I did is to hang a good wire across two ending points for an intended bend then use a strong chopstick or a metal rod to twist in the middle of the wire while the other hand is attempting to help push the bend into shape.
I used this technique to bend this JBP almost entirely quite successfully since it was a straight pine. The design is not complete yet but the progress is decent. Hope this helps someone out there.

Always we hope someone else has the answer.
Bonsai is an art of shrinking.
