Looks promising to me.
Good on you for the vision for the bar branches.
I think this is well used and likely to result in a better outcome long term than the V cut option.
Keep us posted.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Whats wrong with bar branches??
I've seen some awarding winning trees with them!!
I feel, that if the tree looks balanced with them..... go for it.

I couldnt do anything with the parent tree mate. If you look at the link, once i snapped a branch off, the whole design turned to shari. i tried going for broom style with the v cut, but it didnt shoot where i wanted. This was the best option for me.
