Acer Palmatum Mikawa Yatsabusa.. a rare tree?
A couple of years ago i purchased this maple Mikawa yatsabusa and it is without doubt one of the most stunning trees that i have seen. In autumn the centre of the leaf is buttercup yellow and the edges are bright red. They blend to make the tree look like it is on fire. And this is intensified because the internodes are incredibly close and creates dense foliage. in spring the leaves are lime green with tiny red seeds in clusters. Also the petiole is red. The tree ramifys and twists naturally and hardly needs any wiring. I have not been able to aerial layer layer of it successfully yet and that might be its only downfall but i will keep trying. I have not bothered to put this into a pot as i want it to keep growing and keep trying ways to propagate it. Anybody else out there working with this tree?
