[ID] Deciduous opposite leaf bonsai

Post by terriblesarcasm »

Hey everyone!

I just recently received the below bonsai tree for Easter and would love to know what it is so I can look up more specific care instruction.
From what I was able to find, my guess is that it's a Fuschia?

Thanks!

Got me. But I would start with the Oleacea family. Your lilacs, privets etc.

I'm going with "treeman" here as if a fuchia was the ID the younger branches would appear hollow which those pictured do not.
The strong veined leaves although not like my lilacs in appearance do resemble general shape.
I have a pair that came from the same trunk and were air layed a long way back and are so dissimilar that you would assume different varieties.

I'm going with a lilac...wait for leaf fall or and I'll wait for clarification on this point as Autumn is here ..'defoliate and see what transpires' ..
Regards Steve.

This is the Air lay with larger leaves that defy reduction although in garden form this variety has 100mm+ leaves.

This is the original garden dug a number of years ago but as you can see far more attention has bee gifted with multiple defoliation that are timed exactly as it's offspring above....Making "treemans observations very close to the mark.

I would say it's a Chinese Privet.
