Re: Old Grey Owl
Nice work, not only executing your plan well, but for trying on a very peculiar sp. and trunkline!!!

Re: Old Grey Owl
This tree has pushed a heap of new growth and as I was confident that the energy was now up in the foliage I repotted this old girl today.
It may not be the final pot as I might look for something a little softer but for now I am quite happy Hope you all enjoy and as always any comments are welcome

Re: Old Grey Owl
Nice transformation Kez weldone! Dayam 40 years hey?
Good thing is that you do have an old specimen.. bad thing is that how long will it take to reach full potential
I can see it that it will be quite a specimen in years to come.

Re: Old Grey Owl
Just an update,
Did the 2nd styling/refinement today. This tree is going from strength to strength health wise and I am really pleased with how it is progressing.
Here it is as of today Not a great change, just a bit more purposeful in it's shape and better placement of pads.
While this tree has never been easy, and it's not what you would call traditional style as far as a juniper goes, it has taught me a few things, it rewards me with health, and as I learn more and more, it continues to improve along side me
Hope you all enjoy, comments welcome as always

Re: Old Grey Owl
Really growing on me Kez.
Well done. Do yourself a favour and look at where you started to where this tree is now (as if you haven't already).
It is a great progression and a testament to your work.
I particularly like the current trunkline/deadwood combo.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Re: Old Grey Owl
This tree pushed plenty more growth this summer so today I did a little bit more wiring and some minor branch adjustments,

Re: Old Grey Owl
Still refining this tree, gave it a bit of a trim in autumn and looking forward to seeing the growth it puts on this season

Re: Old Grey Owl
Nice progression.
In some earlier posts you talk about the pot it's in maybe not being the final pot. Has your position changed?
