Hi Zim
Firstly well done and welcome to Bonsai, its all about having a go and most importantly enjoying it.And looks like your enjoying it with your enthusiasm.

Here is a couple more ideas for you, first the crytomeria the main trunk can be wired with side branches, then and small branchlets/foliage can be clipped to direction and shape if we are looking for a more compact shape, just keeping it simple here as we sometimes can over complicate it...,

The juniper make fantastic bonsai and rocks can really help as an addition, but can be tricky depending on what we are trying to achieve,as yours is not root over rock as such, and a fairly long piece of material, the rock can take the attention of focus off your narrow trunk, which is very good,so the marriage has started there,so lets keep it going,so we have one picture, not two as you showing up the top part of frame.

In the rough pic is a idea how you could engage it a bit more, another tip long skinny material needs a taller rock/mountain,just more possibilities and convincing as pads can swamp the whole image in ratios.

In the second pic depends what you want to achieve in your imagination/illusion....maybe clouds on a mountain peak....maybe pads representing small trees holding on for dear life or simply what I have tried to show is a tree cascading down the mountain.

Once again Zim well done these are just some more ideas for you, just thinking out aloud ....cheers Anthony

Great quick concept sketches again Anthony :tu: .

Hey just a quick note, you should avoid cutting Cryptomeria foliage with scissors, the tips go black as result.

Cheers,
Mojo

Sweet drawings!

Funny you should say that about the Juniper as I out that top branch pointing up in the hope to form a future canopy :)
