Flowering wisteria

I bought this at the last ausbonsai sale.

I wasn't sure if it was going to flower this year or not but I am very happy with it. It's my first Wisteria and I think I will cut it back after it flowers because it's getting a little leggy.

I think it should be repotted too. Is it too late after flowering?

You can repot either before or after it flowers and it should be fine. Just treat with lots of water and not full sun, they can take a hard root prune and love to be re potted yearly

Yes agree with the repotting timing but absolutely full sun! Don't even worry if the eaves burn a bit (which they shouldn't if you keep them well watered). You just have take care with full hot sun on unshaded branches. The leaves usually protect these though.

I was going to ask the same question about a repot and saw this post. I have one that has no new leaf yet (lots of buds) and a single flower bud that is about an inch long.

Mine are just out in flower too and I will be repotting after they finish, I note that mine have no leaves as yet, only 5 flowers

Lovely flowers. I am envious. I have a couple of Wisteria but never get flowers. One was dug and used to flower brilliantly in the ground. What is the secret?

My secret plenty of sun, water, mine sit in a water tray. Tomato Feed, start feeding heavily January onwards. To promote flower development for Spring. Stop feeding once leaves drop.

I go some photos of some of mine while out in flower

I collected a few larger branches to grow as Cuttings and they have flowered again this year, They have been stuck in a pot of Diatomite / Zeolite mix and have been doing ok. Lots of rot to add character to them.

My original tree was collected as a root cutting from My fathers place in 2005. Has flowered every year, and slowly developing. It had been whacked few times during Renos here and bits keep getting broken off

Drools. Beautiful plant. I hope my wisteria looks like that one day. You were very lucky to get that.
