This has been in the pies for quite some time , I purchased the turntable bearing several months ago
Cheers Alpineart
. A good mate gave me a stack of 20mm thick ex- display tiles which were used as bases to sit the big tree's , pots and rocks on . . Now all I have to do is finish off the upper rock retaining wall for more display area . Luck has come my way , the rains are here for a week and I"m heading to Melb' next week so the rock work will have to wait til I return . New turntable display area

Re: New turntable display area
Looks like an awesome display alpine! Might have to stop by some time if it's open for viewing. What area are you in?
Cheers

Very nice, like your display area, rocks are stunning. How did you join the table and surface to the bearing?

Re: New turntable display area
Hi CraigM, mate the turntable bearings are screwed to the treated pine slats and the tile is simply siliconed to the bearing . The larger pots are 750 x 450 weighing around 50 -80 kg, the bearings are rated at 137 kg .
I used an 8mm nylon sash cord as a seal after packing the bearings with grease . There is a bit of flex/movement in the bearing/silcon , nothing to worry about as they won't be continually rotating . To remove simply cut the screws off with a sabre saw or lever them out with a jimmy bar .
