Very pleasing result! Can't wait to see when it takes final shape and without the wires. Must be a real head turner.

Always we hope someone else has the answer.

Thanks guy's, a real practise in discipline this one, keeping at it and not getting rid of it. Could have sold it a couple of times but i will keep at it.kvan64 wrote:Very pleasing result! Can't wait to see when it takes final shape and without the wires. Must be a real head turner.
I took off the lower sacrifice on the right as the trunk has thickened and adhered to the host very well. A bit of thinning and a rewire made me see that it still has a way to go regards secondary branches. Working on small projects such as this takes a lot longer and the western mind of "Hurry up, hurry up" has to take a back seat.

I will update using older progression photos as my camera has s%#t itself. I am getting it repaired but not in time for an update. May the competition Gods forgive me and grant me leniency.

I have rewired and pruned this project and i think it is now starting to become believable in that i might actually pull it off The trunk has moulded beautifully to the stump and i can now wire secondary's. All in all i am a little amazed at how little time this has come together.

Great progression, I am really enjoying it.
Right from the start it looked like a Koala climbing a tree, and looks more like that now I reckon?

Very impressive project, progression and result, Bodhi! I keep going back and forth between the shots, but can't tell from looking. Did you remove the cutting board sometime in the progress, or is that still supporting the stump?

No, it is still there to stabilise the stump, cleverly disguised as moss.melbrackstone wrote: Did you remove the cutting board sometime in the progress, or is that still supporting the stump?

Re: [BODHIDHARMA]..Tanuki project.. Juniperis "sargentii"
Besides the usual of food, water, end tipping etc i have not a huge amount to report. I am contemplating a new front (see piccy) for next repot which gives the tree a little more character and lets you better see the deadwood. One thing i did see in the earlier piccys was the ghoulish face (bottom left hand side) and the more i looked the more there were. Demonsville i reckon, very cool Mind you, it could be the red wine, but i need to divert attention away from Watto's comment of a Koala and all that cuddly crap I am also cunningly diverting your attention away from the fact that not a whole lot has been done since the last posting

Great looking tree Bhodi. And yes you're right, the more I look at the dead wood it's growing on, the more weird little goblin faces I see in it. Makes for a very interesting piece, definitely a talking point.

This tree has grown on beautifully and it is a shame that i missed the last photoshoot (i was away). I will now continue on with it's development as this is a great thread to see how far this has come i a relatively short time I will post again after a prune and cleanup and rewire.

Thanks for the update.
I now see a Koala and a white cockatoo at the top of the tree. Great progression.

Keep the updates coming Bodhi.
I'd like to see how much the original trunks have bulked up and in particular look forward to seeing this trimmed and shaped.
