i just posted my thoughts on the whole thing on pups post of this sorry jarrod, i didnt know how i could put a price on your tree. i was quite hesitant in putting one up for pups, i think i actually over estimated.

ok... a little bit of an elbow from jarrod in chat and im here putting my two cents in again. jarrods tree is a bit different, its a nursery stock tree thats had time put into it aswell, obviously grown from a cutting or seed whichever, it is 20 od years old, how long in training? not sure but time has been put in there etc.

going on experience the tree itself how jarrod bought it would be worth so much, and the pot i think was made for the tree so that puts prices up to.

as not to ramble on like i did in pups post with the other tree i will put it out there. obviously with respect for everything i have already explained in pups similar post.

so here goes..

any where from $600-$1200 ISH ( hopefully no offence is taken, this is what i think)

reasons- the tree is of a certain approximate age, no it hasnt been in training that long but it has been given care and consideration, grown for so long in plastic pots or field, either or. some styling has been done, the pot has been designed for the tree even if some people dont think the marriage of it is right.
so a custom pot calls for a bit more. but thats not whats for sale, for sale (well we know its not for sale but for the purpose of the experiment) is a styled tree in a custom pot that has the essence of bonsai. that price is for the tree that i seen in the post given. it still needs more development so i would probly be saying the mid range of the price i gave. roughly.
this is a hard thing to call as like i said some one (jarrod) has put time and effort into this tree. so are we paying for the bonsai itself or the time and effort put into it or both? i say both. because with out the time and effort this bonsai would not be a bonsai as such, it would still be a twenty odd year old juniper in a plastic nursery pot.

i hope i am somewhere in the ball park, but really we need some of the nursery owners to put there 2 cents worth in for a topic of this discussion! :D

any ways no offence is to be taken from my opinions( i think i was pretty positive mostly)
all respect to you for doing this jarrod.

regards jamie

Quality demands price, age does not. With out the quality of a refined tree, a tree is worth nothing.

As I said in Pup's thread, I'm not really qualified to give a price, as I get the impression Tasmanian prices are distorted compared with other states.

For me, comparing this tree with other's I've seen locally with prices... I'd price this at somewhere around $250 - $300.

Is that realistic, or too low? This is the kind of thing I was talking about in the thread that sparked this whole thing. Without this sort of discussion, it's very hard for a beginner to know.

We are quoting overall that is a hand made PK pot so going on other prices. I know Pats pots sell for you have just bought the pot Japh. ;)
