Rainforest Fig

Post by anthonyW »

This is a fig that I would come across just before the start of winter 2012 from a guy downsizing his collection.

A fig that was quite unique and very interesting in structure.

We would slip it from his very expensive pot to the box.

The fig was badly suffering from too heavy mix and lack of food,so all I could do was a few feeds and basically protect it...keep it warm other words.

Well happily got it through winter, then started to work on its health and direction...cheers Anthony

Would sit on this fig for some seasons and then not happy with my direction, basically struggling,so I would seek a sit down discussion with Leong...,maybe spin it around,,tilt forward as it steps up nicely to the top,try and get a shoot here and there to promote two branches left and right....your fig Tony...wink,wink and wink and here is a roughie, you just never know...yep you just never know..,haha thanks champion

So there you go thats game plan

Slowly working the pads while we wait for our two new shoots to promote.

Interesting Fig ,real character. You don't need to go to the gym ,with all those monsters at your place. Watch the back.......Cheers John.

Agree with John, you've gotten yourself some monster weights to lift there!

In saying that, you've also gotten some beautiful trees, and you've made them even more so! Well done, and here's to watching them progress even more!

Cheers John and Mel,

I think your right with the size and going back to a compost mix 40 to 45 % with rest scoria to help keep the moisture and fert up and also to give me some days grace watering has added quite a bit more weight as against the 100% diatomite..thanks guys.

cheers Anthony
