I like the rose, Very cute and different material to see is good :-)

I would wire down the left branches tho and grow a small apex from a shoot from the branch on the right

Thanks the pomegranate I bought a few months back at the Northwest bonsai show, but the carpet Rose I got as nursery stock and have been working on it. Had the in law come over awhile back and complain how I had plenty of trees but no flowers. So that began my quest to get or make flowering bonsai, got a bunch of azaleas on the works which will most likely have their own page for advice, some crab apples on the way and now that I've seen this carpet Rose do ok I have a few different colors on the way aswell. Just so I can thumb it in her face :tounge:

Something like this ken, sorry my styling and and branch selecting is still lacking but thanks to this forum it's going in the right direction. :fc:

Yep that works for me, just need to reduce the length a bit.

the 2 shoots on the right, wire and bend down to provide basis for branches and then grow the new apex from the shoot there on the left of tht trunk to give a basis for a canopy.
the little shoot in the middle, wire out and back as a back branch

See a virt to give some idea of what i might do if mine.
note that the 2 right branches, 1 is brought more to the front than the other but hard to say from a pic which it would be. the other one is moved to the rear

Thank you very much Ken! The virtual was very helpful. Hope I can get it looking like something out of your collection. I've got to say though pretty good material to work with, had no issues after removing a fair amount of roots, bends pretty easy, seasol for 1st few weeks after potting then just water sun and fertiliser every few weeks. Pretty strong plant apparently meant to be disease tolerant, not shore on that but its way bad weather tolerant than my common roses. Leaves have also ramified pretty quick not much considering its a dwarf but still noticeable.

Excellent work there Tony

Now just pinch a trim to build ramification in the branches and to make the canopy denser.
Nice to read the benefits to them as well.

I collected a couple of large rose trunks a few months ago and 2 of them are shooting out now. They are a mini flower type so not sure how they will go, but am happy to try just about most things (especially if they flower too)
