I had a thought this morning then bugger me I spent most of the day running around like a blue arse fly planning , designing and configuring this bugger . I needed to use up some very ordinary Ficus trunks that have been neglected for too long
Cheers Alpineart
. I put together this slab and rock landscape first thing for the intended finished product however the glue will take a few days to harden . The figs need a little growing on so I have used the Galvanized lid off a 200litre {44 gallon drum} to allow plenty of root run After sorting the roots out on the main trunk the other 2 trees were simply sorted , positioned and screwed together with 65mm stainless steel decking screws . More than happy with the finished product , with over 100 figs laying around the place I might just get around to putting a few more together .Ficus - New Configuration

Re: Ficus - New Configuration
That's bloody impressive, Alpineart!
Looking forward to watching it settle into the rock landscape.
Will you eventually remove the screws, or will the tree swallow them up?
I have some likely candidates for this treatment, so any tips you can give would be most welcome!
Cheers,
Thymetraveller

Re: Ficus - New Configuration
Hi AthonyW , mate if I had a beer now I"d fall over
.
Hi T'hymetraveller , mate the screw will stay put forever , being stainless there is no need to remove them . They are embedded 20 mm into the outside trunks and 30mm or so into the main trunk so to remove them in time would damage the outer trunks .
Hi sheepdawg , mate i need to do a lot of updating on a heck of a lot of topics , just finding the time . It takes me almost as much time to do a topic than actually hack and chop and slap these things together . Will try to do update as i work stock over when I find the time for play .
Cheers guys . Alpine
