Pinus Nigra "Nigra" Group
I threw this together this morning , lost the inspiration and motivation over the last 12 months so its time to get the lead out and do my bit . These were collected last year from memory and have grown excellent root breaching the big pots. They were sitting in this bonsai pot
A quick foliage and root trim , slipped out of the plastic and into the bonsai pot , unfortunately i had to gently bare root them in order to sort out the tangled roots . They should survive and will get a basic wiring over the coming months . The main tree will be close to 1 metre high when wired with a new leader , the other 2 will be reduced .The training pot is 700 x 450 x 200 just to give an idea of the size . Time will tell if they grow or not .

Looks great mate, i know the feelings too " lost the inspiration and motivation over the last 12 months" but the bug bites hard mate, you'll be back to 24/7 bonsai mode in no time hhahahaalpineart wrote:I threw this together this morning , lost the inspiration and motivation over the last 12 months so its time to get the lead out and do my bit . Re: Pinus Nigra "Nigra" Group
Hi AndrewF, mate its been too long and hard to get any progress on top of most of my material . Good thing is it closer to yamadori with better developed roots so whats left stands a better chance of survival .
Hi Boom64 , mate i'm downsizing believe it or not , with 30% of my stock dead , i don't think i will be in a hurry to replace it with any more candidates . Need to look at the material i have and work it too the hilt , definitely intend to keep pushing the boundaries as before , just not in the collecting department .
Cheers Guys . Alpine

Trying to fire on all cylinders but things are slow . Got some slings and wire on these but its only the start .
Cheers Alpineart
New leaders are set and i will let it live on of die off over the next growing season . Might pluck a few needles here and there over time . Cheers Alpineart

Hi Alpineart,
Love the pot and the planting, can you tell me the dimentions of the pot and where i can get something like that. I'm looking for something just like it but about 86cm long.
Regards
Rudy

Hi Rudy , mate the dimension are as above 700x 450 x 200 , this pot along with many other were part of a deal i put together with a few members and a private chap whom i had purchased material off previously . No more available of this size it was a one-off , u-beaut deal . If your looking pots , place an add in for sale or wanted section at the bottom of the topics and i'm sure some guys here will know where to source them in Melbourne .rudy wrote:Hi Alpineart,

Re: Pinus Nigra "Nigra" Group
With the loss of one tree i decided to slip pot this into a more managable training pot .
Cheers Alpineart
Plenty of roots so it was a quick job , wiring will take place later .I dont have another tree to replace the lost one so it will remain a two tree group .Cheers Alpineart

Re: Pinus Nigra "Nigra" Group
Been a while since this was re-potted into this round bowl pot {only pot big enough at the time} and left to its own to grow on
Cheers . Alpineart
. Its a 2 man lift so it just sits on a turntable and rotated monthly . With the help of my son we lifted it into the pergola , in need of a tidy up and wire job I spent the last couple of nights and this morning {gently as I can } needle plucking , trimming , bending and wiring into shape . I will gradually adjust the turnbuckles over the next few months to increase the movement . The pot is 550mm in diameter and the main trunk has been reduced down to 850 mm . This will be re-potted over winter most likely onto a hand made purpose built slab . More happy with the progress and result to date .Cheers . Alpineart
