Juniper cascade nebari 3 years progress

Post by Andreas »

Here one of my juniper, started a new idea let see how it will turn out. I had some pest problems and some damages had to be cut out because of the damage.
I wired a bit heavy still need to set it right too, but as it is still in process it doesn't really matter. Still need to clip it, but haven't found time.

Cool material.
Id like to see a little less symmetry looking down the centre of the cascade.
The continuous S effect doesnt match the randomness of the rest of your tree.
Thanks for posting A!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Good point, but with the heavy wire it looks more than it actually is I can straighten it so. How would you go with it?

Depends which way you view this tree. I assume you intend this tree to be viewed from the longer side of the pot - 2nd pic?

From the front it is almost straight down the cascade. From the side you have a regular s shape curve repeating.
It is great that you have put 3D curves in but :imo: regular curves are not attractive or natural. try for random curves - different amplitude and wavelength ( some big curves, some smaller, some longer, some shorter)
The relatively straight front view actually works. Personally I would have made random curves in that plane as well but your style is quite attractive.

What is currently bugging me is the apex that goes in the opposite direction from the cascading main trunk. Several reasons:
1. makes too much of a straight line with the cascade.
2. In nature, whatever has made the main trunk cascade will probably still be acting on the head of the tree.
I would like to see the apex echo the cascading trunk - at least leaning a little to the left.
Maybe the top part is a little too tall for the cascade? Bending it to the left as per #2 above will reduce that a bit I think.
