Yesterday I dug this from the neighbors. Wrong time of year i know but they wanted it gone. It took 2 and a half hours and 2 chainsaw blades to get out. Seriously a tough job. Olso was stuck in the foundations of the house

Good effort bet you slept well after that dig
I would keep it damp with weak mix of seasol or similar.
Its easy to drown at this stage with overwatering.
Hop it survives, then thrives.

the last couple of big ones i dug, had all got all attacked buy grubs and crawlies under the bark and rotted back to nothing after 12 months or so
I have a new one now and have painted all exposed cuts and have sprayed with Weak lime sulphiur.
I wil keep up the lime sulphur and not sure what to use to control all the bugs and crawlies

Yep think so as well.
I think Confidor will used often on this one to see if they can be eliminated

Good score and it should survive no problem. They are very prone to curl grub so keep an eye out for that. Look forward to updates.

I think it will live but you'll probably find that you get a lot of wood rotting down the road. Just be prepared for it.

Hi Sammy,
Just confirming what some of the members have already mentioned. I have Air Layered quite a number of these and when I cut back unwanted branches I always seal the cuts. Before I was aware of the characteristics of these trees and left some cuts unsealed, they rooted back to the trunk.

Ok no worries thanks all. Ill have to keep a good eye out and do what i can if an invasion happens. Middle of the trunk already has rotted wood. Removed some but not all. Im guessing removing it would be the best option being such soft wood?

every time i see that all I can think of is the good old captain squatting y the beach !!!

Quick update. Put on growth and one flower but probably is still living on reserves. Time will tell. Here goes

I have a big one newly collected too and am going to spray with Confidor to keep the bugs and borers out of this one.
All other big ones I have lost because of chewing things under the bark
