Found this big old paperbark today with the family. It's down the southeast of beachport in S.A.
Hate to guess an age but considering its meant to be a small tree and once aged they grow slow I'm going to have a stab and say over 500 years
Could be wrong but this thing is impressive. In person its even better. Hope you agree.
Very powerful tree

A stick in a pot is better than no stick at all. Remember even the best bonsai started as a stick.

That's a very nice tree! Any idea on the exact species?

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

Beautiful Tree.
You've managed to take some nice photo's which do it some justice as well.
I often find that my photo's of mature tree's are often nowhere near as impressive..

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Nice tree, but I have some similar sized in my area which was market garden less 100 yrs ago so I think 500 might be a stretch!

Re: Massive old paperbark
Lovely thing. I would guess at more like 80 or so years as well but that's really not important. What is important is the beauty of the tree. Would be nice to see from different angles too!
