Juniper inspiration

Post by gin_boon »

Hello
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for styling my juniper? Should I swing both branches down cascade to improve the flow or do semi-cascade or cut one way?

Thanks

There are always lots of options with young, undeveloped material like this so there's not one right answer. You need to decide what you like and go with that.
You already seem to have come to the conclusion that a tree going both up and down does not look the best so I agree that you should concentrate the style on one or the other.
Your pictures are not real clear but my preference would be for the cascade but, as I've already said, styling is a very personal thing. Rather than bending the upright branch downward I would probably remove it or create jin. In bonsai, less is more. We try to convey a concept with as little material as possible so if in doubt I tend to remove material rather than trying to move it. Again it is up to you.
