Bleeding Corymbia Citriodora after trunk chop

Hi Guys,

I've trunk chopped a pot bound Corymbia citriodora that was probably about 10-12ft, in the hope of promoting some back-budding lower on the trunk. It's been about a week now and the plant continues to weep profusely from the cut, despite the wound sealan. The cut was made high up the trunk this time, about 70cm from the base.

Just want to know is it pointless to water it at this stage? and should I just keep it in the shade or direct sun (there are no leaves on the plant)? I fear if it continues to bleed the chances of it surviving are slim.

Lift out out of the pot and cut a few roots to stop the bleeding.

Thanks Treeman. Will remove about 1/3 of the roots, hopefully that helps.

Mine have wept for weeks after a brutal chop, be prepared for up to 100mm or so of die back once it shoots and settles.
