With the skinny trunked material available widely in Australia this sort of bending is defineately worth the time to do. Great progression of this tree. To be truthful I think I preferred the earlier pic of the [simpler] trunk lines & balance of your foliage placement in your "2nd attempt Bland" which I would have sheepishly classified as "subtle & elegantly understated."
However, your price now for successfully changing the mood Dr. Evil must surely equate to "One....million....dollars....!"

Another few years of refinement of the foliage pads and some more jinning and exposing of the trunk still to go.
