Banksia Integ - how hard should I chop it???
This banksia is $8 and is in 20L grow bag. Where should I chop it? Never try this on a banksia before.

good! chop down to first banch and wire it up with some shape as your new leader. next repot you can lean the lower trunk over to compliment your movement.

Thank you. I will chop it down to first branch. Meanwhile, I just found an interesing bent at the second branch and have tried to air layer it. Successful or not, it will be chopped down the first branch as suggested.

im not the person to ask, if the strike roots from cuttings well then i would presume they would airlayer easy enough, i dont see why they wouldnt airlayer, with the technique you give them a fair chance to strike:D
i will do a bit of research and get back to ya mate

Banksia will layer real easily. You should have no trouble at all with this and I would check in bout 6- 8 weeks for roots
Also they will back bud on old wood very easily and you will also have no trouble when you do take the layer off leaving yourself with a nice lower section too
