Victorian Native Bonsai Club - Exhibition and Sale - 2018
In the past there have not been sales at this show but this year all the big guns will be selling stuff. Sellers include Tracey Francis from Murrumbung Pottery Studio, Marg Fenn from Hackinoto Pottery, Val Garth Pots, Bonsai Roots will have all your potting mix needs as well as Orchid pots. There will be plant material to buy - both pre-bonsai and finished bonsai.
There will be demonstrations throughout the day.
On top of this there will be an exceptional display of native bonsai all displayed in an Art Gallery set up.
An event not to be missed.

Just confirming it will be held at the Royal Botanical Gardens and not at Coburg?
I nearly didn't see the Botanical Gardens address for a second there.

I love this venue! It is often used for short term art displays and shows off the trees beautifully. Opportunities to visit the botanical gardens and the Shrine of Remembrance only a short walk from the city. Easy parking on the weekend.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

With less than 2 weeks to go I have been getting some of my trees for sale. This Melaleuca ericifolia is one of them. it is in a Lorraine Simpson pot and stands approximately 600mm high from the base of plant.
There will also be demonstrations on both days. Saturday 11-12pm, and 2-3pm. Sunday 1-2pm.
There will also be members working on their trees throughout the whole weekend.
For anybody who takes up membership over the weekend it will entitle you for membership for the the rest of this financial year and all the way through to June 30 2019.

Re: Victorian Native Bonsai Club - Exhibition and Sale - 2018
Here is a sneak peek of some of my pots that will be available at the Vic Native Show this year...
Being a bonsai novice I am still learning which pots suit which trees, but I reckon natives call for texture and variable glazes so I have tried to select the pots to sell with this in mind

Re: Victorian Native Bonsai Club - Exhibition and Sale - 2018
...just getting a few things together for the sales table.
There's a couple of larger Japanese pots that are almost extinct in Australia now.
Also a fibreglass Slab that was brought in by one of the Kato's for a BFA demonstration in the late 80's or '90's
Hope to see you there!

I am looking forward to attending too.
Also - will anyone be selling pots similar to that in the photo on the flyer? I am thinking I may put this in something like that one day.
I can see how a high-sided rustic pot may work to show this nebari. It's not the only option a traditional semi-cascade pot will work too.

I really enjoyed the show today - many beautiful specimens. Well done to all those involved putting such a good event together.
...and I waltzed off with a couple of Acacia Howitii to and dad brought few plants too. Good stuff.
Very inspiring native show.
Cheers,
Mark

Well done to those who organised the show. My 7 year old and I both loved it and came away inspired
