The main feature on this tree is it's powerful and trunk with great natural deadwood and dramatic movement. By removing the major right hand branch it changed the movement of the tree back to the left, against the initial direction of the trunk line. I also dramatically shortened the apex to compact the design and increase it's impact.
Finally I increased the angle when re-potting to further add to the drama and interest. I had a pot made for this tree by Ron Lang (USA)..some people may not like it but it guess pot selection is quite a personal thing.
One of the major challenges with his tree is it's foliage, that reverts back to juvenile status when it's pruned although I'm getting it more under control with different and more deliberate techniques, it's always going to be a little leggy but I guess that's part of the charm
