alpine yes a difference in height to width will help giving composition a illusion of depth . also a large tray or slab with these planted to the left maybe on a slight raise helps with the whole illusion of a group of trees or forest setting

Re: Trident Maple 9 Tree Group
High Matthew , mate the tray is as big as the older training pot , unfortunately it is in use and I couldn't be bothered re-potting figs to steal the tray . I have left some new shoots for future leaders so we will have to monitor the growth and select the best options .
Its only 3 years in the making from grow bed stock so it progressing in the right direction .
Cheers . Alpine

I'm enjoying this thread, got any recent photos of the group? Have you got another pot lined up for it? It would look stunning in a large reihou pot

Hi bunce all the progress pics are here to many tree's to photograph for the sake of taking pics unless work is done on them .bunce wrote:I'm enjoying this thread, got any recent photos of the group? Have you got another pot lined up for it? It would look stunning in a large reihou pot![]()

Re: Trident Maple 9 Tree Group
Hi pjames , shrinking this into its current home doesn't do it justice but i would rather try to lift 20 kg rather than 55kg like the old training pot , I'll keep it for the big junipers .

Re: Trident Maple 9 Tree Group
That’s looking really good Alpineart, may I ask the overall height of the trees. Always hard to judge the height from pic’s.
You have done a great job balancing height, pot, width.
Cheers

Hi Kirky , the tree's range from 350mm to 650mm with bases from 25mm to 60mm at ground level .

The glue tube is 50 x 350mm to give an indication . Tray is a 650mm x 400mm x 80mm .Cheers . Alpine

Re: Trident Maple 9 Tree Group
Hi KIRKY , the hernia is good , its the tendons ripped off both shoulders that's giving the grief .
With no sign of healing it makes for a painful existence and a huge loss of production around here .

Re: Trident Maple 9 Tree Group
Ouch!
I think that can only be fixed with surgery
Had the husband give me a hand with a potted tree (non) bonsai a few years ago, gave himself a hernia took them 11 weeks to diagnose it was a hernia and another 3 weeks before he could get surgery. I’m still hearing about it every time I ask him to help in the garden
Sheeeesh! Don’t know when he’s going to get over it, perhaps more surgery.... a tonguectomy
Cheers
