Boston Ivy
This was collected from a job a few months ago . The owner had hacked it back and smashed it out before I could put my name on the trunk .
It did cost a discount in labour for the privilege of owning it but i think it was worth it . The true base is around 125mm with a trunk of 45mm but i have buried it down to around 80mm on the base , using the finer roots on the base of the trunk to help keep it alive .
A long way from bonsai but time will tell .

She considered it a Bonston ivy but not 100% certain , it could be just an ornamental grape .It did cost a discount in labour for the privilege of owning it but i think it was worth it . Re: Boston Ivy
Hi KIRKY , not shortened , just the rear view , Can't waste all that movement , might have to layer it if its an Ivy .
Hi Mathew , I recall seeing that ivy of yours , magic colour too. No hail this morning its been a sunny day here so I made the effort to trim a few things .
Cheers . Alpine .

Re: Boston Ivy
Definately need a topic name change , this is a Virginia Creeper not a Boston Ivy as I was told by the original owner .Anyway here is a pic of a basic progression .

Re: Boston Ivy
Hi Raging Bull , it a bugger for shooting at the base of the trunk but hopefully with a bit of foliage on top it might just slow down of stop the lower sprouting . The colour is even better in the flesh .
Hi Matthew , this is the only Autumn colour here . plenty of blossom , Orange , lemon, Mt Fuji Cherry and Crab apple all have recently flowered . I 'm sure it was the dark days during the fires that confused the tree's . Blessed to receive 50mm yesterday . looks like we might just miss out tonight seems to be splitting up again .
Cheers fella's . Alpine
