Looks like a smarty pants variety ? I would take to it with a sabre saw and make a smaller tree - remember to seal the cuts and give it heaps of chook poo.

Hi Snipz
From pics 1 & 3 I can see a twin or triple trunk that would mean keeping the big base intact
Bougies seem to rely mostly on the flower display but IMO look better on a big thick base.
It looks like you will have many large scars left if dividing or chopping into smaller trees
I would reduce the root mass heaps if not done already. Even almost flat bottom cut if needed to lighten it.
Then when happy with basic size of tree you want just take your time deciding what style. Good not rushing these things.
One day the best direction/style will come to you.
Yes they air layer well.
They will even grow roots as large cuttings basically
Hormone powder may help but I find they root without it in good mix
Its good to remember how long a base like that needs to grow
IMHO it would be would be a shame to split it up
What I do with trees too heavy to move easily is leave them in one spot and turn very occasionally

If you do want to make more trees I would do cuttings rather than air layers. That way you can get on with developing the new tree and not have to wait for the layers to be able to be seperated.

Impossible!
It's true Beano - never again for me. I'm probably helping kill this one just by looking at the pics.
I really think these big ones are spectacular when full of bloom.
Do you know what colour you got Snipz?
I'm in no rush with this bad boy but have some options to ponder now thanks to you guys; I'll just keep feeding it steak and beer and see what I come up with
Cheers all
