ID Please Grevillea?
Hey guys,
Dug this up the other day, they grow all over the place in the bush here, this was just growing against a post on a walk path more like a weed than anything. It certainly wasn't removed from pristine bush land. I thought they were usually pretty prickly but these leaves seems (at least for now) soft, unless I'm mistaking it for another one. If it is the one I'm thinking of it doesn't grow very tall, more like a bush (this one as actually on its side more like a cascade.) and little yellow flowers.
As you can see, the leaves are tiny but they remind me of grevillea leaves. I was possibly considering for the Native competition. The trunk is pretty rigid, even at this size, might not be any good but worth an ask.
thanks as always

Re: ID Please Grevillea?
My first guess is Acacia. The leaves are pinnate, not deeply divided. That probably rules out a grevillea. I think I can see pods near the top of photos 2 & 3. A close up of the leaves, in focus, and of the ‘pods’ would be helpful especially of the leaf stem just below the last leaves. I don’t know what the dark structure in the middle of pic 5 is. The spine-like tip to the leaf is interesting, but also a bit puzzling. Where in the country is it from?

I've just gone back and see that you are from Perth. There are local small shrubby acacias that this could be one of. Too long ago for me to remember the details - lol

Thanks Alby,
I have to laugh, I did consider that it was an acacia being WA, it was the name of my primary school sports faction after all. I guess that’s fitting seeing as how I am definitely primary school level in bonsai

Re: ID Please Grevillea?
Prickly Moses? Acacia Pulchella ?The brown round thing could be a gall, my understanding is that acacia seed pods are usually elongated, but don't quote me

Re: ID Please Grevillea?
Difficult to tell as the leave are all closed up? Due to being recently collected? Or juvenile growth? It’s an Acacia of some description. You can clearly see the remnants of a seed pod at the very top in the 1,2,3, pictures. Ignore whatever the little brown round thing is agree it could be a gall wasp insect case. It has thorns not sure if it is a weed variety.
This may help once the leaves open up.
