HI Guys,
I did a ground layer on a small Elm recently and I can see some roots now. Should I cut it now or wait till Spring? Thanks

Re: Elm ground layer
With the weather we are having at the moment I would not cut it now.
Pending on how many roots you have, you can cut in Autumn or wait and do it in Spring before bud burst.
Cheers

Re: Elm ground layer
Normally I'd say that layers can survive with very few roots but I'm with Kirky today. Just too damn hot to put anything under stress at the moment. Wait till after the heat. Good thing about ground layer is that they don't get as congested or dry out as much as air layers. Autumn should be OK but spring would probably also be fine.
