It’s been through a couple of phases even in that time with spider mites not wanting to go away. This has left the tree looking pretty unhealthy, on top of that I’m not sure how long it’s been in its pot but the water no longer drains well so it’s in desperate need of a repot.
I really like the tree but not sure on which direction to take it. I’m thinking it’ll need a trunk chop due to the way the branches are growing.
At the moment I’m not sure how I should prioritise...
should I consider a trunk chop and leave it in its pot hoping the developed roots will help it to bud again? Is it the wrong season for such a harsh cut? Do I repot and allow it to maybe regain some vigour? Should I just trim the branches right back instead?
The tree seems to be rid of the mites for now (been using diluted neem oil spray) and the tree is still budding with new foliage quite regularly.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Pics are from healthier time as some foliage now shrivelled on the tips
