I'm going to a workshop with Ryan and I've posted this elsewhere. I had only planned on bringing this one tree as, for a beginner like me, I could probably spend an entire weekend on this tree and just scratch the surface.

From the workshop I'm hoping to get some ideas on design/structure and then learn some techniques; heavy bending using raffia and also stripping of bark in an attempt to give the illusion of movement (because the main trunkline is relatively straight).

Maybe I should get a second tree to take along? I don't have any pines at all.

Looks like this tree has plenty to work with and it may well take you the whole day, and looking at it I think something upright may well be the direction to go.

2 trees aren’t a pre requisite and depending on your wiring speed etc it may be that you only have time for the 1. Taking a second or third tree for options is fine but you Will find a lot of participants take only one tree.

I have chosen two trees as they are small and I know I will get through both but in all my previous workshops I have completed 1 tree per day.

Agree with kez, you'll probably need the whole day to finish that tree. It's a fine bit of material, and I'll bet you don't recognise it when you finish!
