Azalea - Progression

Mark my only advice is and only the obvious is drainage, watering unfortunately is a feel thing, but if your still keen and your more than probably doing it, is to latch onto a dedicated azalea grower in your area, get his medium mix and stick to his mix and keep listening to him/her and as for killing trees.. mate I have killed more trees than you have in your collection and some, so don t worry about that as long they last a little bit longer each time and you are learning haha...so get some more and keep going, don t let them beat you Mark

The azalea Orange Chime another one in the Indica family.

Put in the garden for a few years but this one did not get the attention as the others as in early cut back or wiring only surviving at the back of the garden, hence the straight -ish trunk, so decided to pull the main branches down and any inside kept would be layered above and as I stepped up towards the top, branches would be fired up.

Most inner growth was taken out so wiring could administered easier and then tipping out the rest leaving a few leaves at ends...two seasons later we are up to here, with a few options at hand to disguise our trunk..with 3 new shoots at my disposable.

But for now just simply enjoy it for what it is...ugly from not so ugly I think ...cheers

Or remove 3 shoots and live with it.

Or extend the conical shape as we only really view when flowers anyway ?
