The long wait is nearly over, there is only 1 ½ weeks to the Bonsai Open event.
The event offers a full day of bonsai on Saturday 7th September with the exhibition of 150 beautiful bonsai opening at 9am.
Continuous demonstrations will be running:
- Tony Bebb 9.30 to 12.30
- Hugh Grant 12.30 to 2.00
- Andrew Edge 2.00 to 3.30
Ray Nesci Bonsai will have a very large sales table with just about everything you could want.
Denise Allen and Penny Davis will each be selling their fantastic arrangement of bonsai pots.
Hugh Grant will have a native bonsai stall.
Ken Poole will be selling Akadama, Kanuma, Pumice, and his own special bonsai mix.
Demonstration trees will be auctioned, raffles drawn and people’s choice winner announced between 3.45 to 4.15
There will be a large club members sales table with items ranging from little bonsai to big bonsai like the large Port Jackson fig below, to a selection of newly made tables and everything in between. {See photo examples below]
The large fig is 1000 wide x 900 deep x 1000 tall (incl pot)
The pot is 700 x 500 x 150mm
The tables range in size from (415 x 280 x 30mm) to (575 x 310 x 40mm)
The exhibition closes 5pm on Saturday 7th September (It will not be open Sunday as incorrectly advertised in some club magazines.)
Saturday 7th is going to be a cram packed day of bonsai. The Mingara club restaurant and other facilities are outstanding – with massive car and bus parking facilities.
I hope you get a chance to drop in and join the fun.
Regards
Steve

Re: Bonsai Open
Hi Watto,
Your wish is our command....we've put the request in for good weather and there is a 70% chance it wont rain.
It is forecast to be windy 20 - 30km/h westerlies which wont be ideal for our better halves, but there are some nice sheltered beaches that make a walk enjoyable even in these winds.
Fingers crossed for good weather, but for those of us inside the Mingara club there is going to be a heap to do, watch and enjoy.
Look forward to welcoming heaps of Ausbonsai friends on the day.
Regards
Steve
