Spring arrived here right on the start of September this year.
Trident maples have nearly all started to open leaves. They look great with the new red shoots.

Chinese elms are also on the move here in North East Vic
I can see in the photo that there is some visual competition between the main trunk on the right and the second trunk on the left. The left trunk is composed of 3 smaller trunks. I'll take another look tomorrow because it looks like it would be far better with the tallest rear part removed.
Last is another 'Seiju' elm but a little larger. I kept this one because of the great curves in the lower trunk which don't show up well in the photo. Not sure that I've grown the new top to properly complement that trunk though

Still a bit early up here for the English elms but this crab apple is well under way.
It is old enough to have developed many fruiting spurs so is usually covered in flowers. Flowers should start to emerge soon. They finish pretty quick but I'll try to get a shot at the peak this year.
